How to Play Texas Hold 'em Poker

The objective of Texas Hold'em poker is to make the best five-card hand you can, using a combination of the two "hole cards" you are dealt and the five community cards on the board. You can use one, both, or none of your hole cards in making the hand.

Common Poker Terms you need to know before you play:

1. The Blinds: "Blinds" are designed to stimulate betting, forcing one player to post the minimum bet and another player to post half the minimum bet each hand. Read More

2. Hole Cards: After the blinds are posted, two cards are dealt face down to each player in clockwise manner around the table, starting with the player to the left of the dealer button. Read More

3. What is the Flop: After the first betting round completes, the first three community cards, known as "the flop," are dealt face up on the board. Read More

4. What is the Turn Card? After the flop betting round completes, another card, called the "turn card," is dealt face up on the table. Read More

5. The River Card: After the turn betting round, one last card, called "the river," is dealt face up on the table. Read more about the river card

6. Showdown: After the final betting round ends, "the showdown" occurs to determine the winner. The player with the best hand wins the pot except in the case when he goes all-in in response to a bet or raise and doesn't have enough chips to cover the bet. Read more about the Showdown
